How to enter

  • The World Responsible Tourism Awards are free to enter.

Download or complete the application form online. Don’t be daunted by it. You do not need to answer every question, and the word limits are just that they are limits, they are not targets. Previous applicants, and not just the winners, tell us that applying and completing the application form was good for the management of their business. They discover strengths and weaknesses and find that they improve their internal management and their marketing, many add elements to their management information systems – it certainly makes entering subsequent awards easier!

  • This is what you need to do by Monday 6th August 2018

    1. Complete the entry form to the best of your ability
    2. If downloading the entry form, rename the file name, placing your organisation’s name at the start of the file name
    3. If downloading the entry form, send the completed entry form along with any supporting documentation to wrta-entries@reedexpo.co.uk
    4. The last section of the entry form asks for details of three references. Request reference letters as soon as possible and ask referees to send their reference letters to wrta-entries@reedexpo.co.uk.

    Tips for completing your application

    • The questions in the entry form are designed to find out about you and your work, so be as honest and clear as possible. We understand that you may not always be able to provide evidence when we ask for it, but hope that you will try your best to give us a clear picture of what you do
    • Please note all word counts are the maximum for that section, not a target
    • The evidence you provide to support your answers can be provided in the form of additional documentation, which you can upload alongside your application. This could be any documentation, communication, policy or report which shows the impact rather than intent of your work. Metrics or data in numerical form which can back up your answers is particularly welcomed by the judges. This evidence can be uploaded as a word document, image or PDF document. If supporting documentation is already online, please include a link in the corresponding answer. Please label all supporting documentation clearly with the name of your organisations and category you are entering
    • All entries and supporting documentation must be submitted via the online form or attached via email with your entry form. Only one responsible tourism policy (or similar policy) and five supporting documents can be submitted with each entry form in the round. We ask that you think carefully about what supporting evidence you submit – quantity does not necessarily equate to quality – making sure this is concise and clearly referenced in your entry form
    • If you have won or been a runner-up previously in the World or African Responsible Tourism Awards, please make sure to provide specific information about progress/new initiatives since then.
    • If you have any questions or queries at all, please contact wrta-entries@reedexpo.co.uk
    • Good luck!
  • What we are looking for

We are looking for practices and initiatives that will inspire others and that are replicable across the industry. Our ambition is to showcase great examples of Responsible Tourism in practice and to sue them to educate others, including consumers, about what can be achieved and to challenge others to do as well or better.

We recognise that achieving sustainability requires both innovation and the application of the best practices across the business or destination. We are also keen to see businesses which can report their initiatives and document their impact, both increasing positive economic, social and environmental impacts and by reducing negatives ones.

Our questions are designed to find out about you and your work, so be as honest and clear as possible. We understand that you may not always be in a position to provide evidence when we ask for it, but hope that you will try your best to give us a clear and transparent picture of what you do. We do not expect you to answer every question – but they are designed to enable you to present all the information you would like to provide.
